Fundriver's Brand Evolution

For over 15 years, Fundriver has been a leader in the endowment accounting software industry. This fully remote company with an enviable company culture changed the way finance teams of non-profit institutions large and small work with the introduction of their flagship software. And when Fundriver was gearing up to release a new product that would build on this success and expand their reach to fundraising teams, they brought in R+W to help steward their brand evolution.

In our pursuit for truth, we homed in on a several key insights that illuminated our new brand strategy. First and foremost, we identified Fundriver's number one asset, its people and reaffirmed its fierce commitment to their health and wellbeing, above all else. We also pinpointed Fundriver's key differentiator: empowering non-profit institutions with a better way to work, smarter not harder, by streamlining workflows and enhancing partnerships across departments through access, accuracy, and automation. Our strategic process led us to name and position their two products, Balance and Impact, based on the needs and mindset of the audience each product serves. In addition, we reaffirmed their core values with their internal stakeholders and developed a new external rallying cry of "Empowering Stewardship" —Fundriver's promise to its people, clients, and partners.

The new logo embodies a collaborative spirit and captures the energy and upward momentum of Fundriver's vision for the future. To further signal this new vision, we designed a visual language system that features dynamic, overlapping shapes built from quarter, half and whole circles. Vibrant colors speak to the optimism, confidence, and caring attributes of the brand and work together to distinguish the two products. We also had a ton of fun creating illustrations of the team in one unified style for use on their site and sales materials.

The brand rollout began with Fundriver's leadership and staff, building excitement internally and leading up to the public launch with a newly designed website.
